THE 2024 FAIR!

Gather 'round, one and all, to the heart of Rottingdean where history meets merriment at the beloved Rottingdean Village Fair. Nestled beside the beautiful duck pond and at the foot of the South Downs, our picturesque seaside village becomes a vibrant tapestry of joy and community.

The theme

Over the years, we've often come up with a theme for the fair - and this year is no different. We encourage you all to get into the spirit of things - even if its in the simplest of ways.

As the fair is always held so close to the pond, and it plays such an important part of our village for residents and tourists alike, we've chosen to use it as the theme for this year. So be fun, and be creative... there'll even a prize for the cleverest idea!

A host of stalls

Meander through our bustling marketplace where local artisans and vendors offer a delightful selection of handcrafted wares, artwork, and fresh local produce.

Part of the fun of the village fair is mooching from stall to stall, perusing the diverse range of goodies on sale. From bric-a-brack to artisan bread, vintage clothing and fantastic cakes, homewares and hobbies, artworks and objets d’art - all there just waiting to be nabbed!

Delicious food

Having fun is hungry work - and this year we’ll be providing more options than ever. There'll be a fabulous new BBQ, courtesy of the The Plough Inn, serving flame-grilled burgers and hot dogs - and of course there'll be the ever-popular Whiteways tea tents with their delicious range of home-made sandwiches and cakes.

We'll also be extending further on the offering by inviting a different guest cuisine every year - kicking off this year with our amazing local curry chefs from 'Mango Kitchen'.

So come along and savour the many flavours of our food stalls, where a cornucopia of delicious goodies await. From traditional fair treats to gourmet bites, your taste buds are in for a real treat.

One of our great local pubs, The Plough, has kindly agreed to run the bar on the day, so you’ll be able to enjoy ice-cold draught beer, wines and other drinks on the Green. And if you fancy something a bit special, there'll also be a dedicated Pimms & Prosecco tent in Kipling Gardens too - with music and entertainment on a second smaller stage!

And of course, if you want something somewhat less alcoholic, there'll be plenty of tea and coffee on hand too!

Live entertainment

Enjoy an eclectic mix of performances by our talented locals throughout the day. A host of musicians, singers, bands, dancers, and community groups will take to the stage to dazzle and delight.

The day will kick-off with a rousing and spirited performance by The Salvation Army Band!
